How to connect IDrive to UpdraftPlus
UpdraftPlus enables WordPress users to back up their websites to a range of remote storage services, including S3-compatible platforms like IDrive® e2. This guide will show you how to configure IDrive® e2 as your backup storage location in UpdraftPlus.
Before getting started, ensure you have the following:
- An active IDrive® e2 storage account
- Access credentials:
- Access Key
- Secret Key
- S3 End-point URL
- Bucket Name
Create Access Credentials in IDrive® e2
- Log into your account
- Go to Buckets
- Create a new bucket
- Pick the closest region
- Give it a name
- Enable the rest of the settings according to your liking or keep them set to default
- Under Access Keys click Create Access Key
- Give it a name and pick a region
- Enable the rest of the settings according to your liking or keep them set to default
- Upon key creation, a popup will appear with both keys – make sure to save them
Log in to WordPress & Open UpdraftPlus Settings
Navigate to: UpdraftPlus → Settings tab.
Choose S3-Compatible Storage in UpdraftPlus
- Scroll to Choose your remote storage.
- Check the box for S3-Compatible (Generic).
- Enter IDrive® e2 Credentials:
- S3 access key: Your Access Key (Access key ID)
- S3 secret key: Your Secret Access Key (the one you saved upon the key creation)
- S3 location: Name of your bucket
- S3 end-point: The end-point you got in your bucket settings. Click on the gear icon next to your bucket title, there you will find the endpoint
- Test the connection
- Save your settings
Run a Test Backup
- Go to the Backup/Restore tab.
- Click Backup Now.
- After backup, confirm files are uploaded to your IDrive® e2 bucket.
