How to clean your WordPress database
The database cleaning feature is a great way to reduce your site’s loading time, remove unnecessary data from database tables and regain disk space lost to data fragmentation.
Here’s a step-by-step guide to using it.
1. Select the data you want to clean
- Go to WP-Optimize >> Database.
- Click the Optimizations tab.
- Select the optimization options that you wish to use.
2. Back up your database
Check the Take a backup with UpdraftPlus before doing this checkbox.
3. Run the optimizations
Click the Run all selected optimizations button. The number of issues that have been optimised will appear under each optimisation.
4. Optimize your database tables
- Go to WP-Optimize >> Database
- Click the Tables tab
- Check Optimize InnoDB tables anyway
5. Back up of your database
Check the Take a backup with UpdraftPlus before any actions upon tables (recommended) checkbox.
6. Optimize your tables
Click the Optimize button next to each database table that you wish to optimize.
